BEYER AND LENK FEATURING TIGA -

TITLE: ' HEARTBREAK'/'ANANDA'
NEW SINGLE OUT: 13 SEPTEMBER 2004
FORMAT: 12"
CAT NUMBER: 12NOMU137

When three electronic music titans get in the ring it could always go a bit 'too many cooks…' however Adam Beyer, Jesper Dahlback (aka Lenk) and the golden voice of Tiga combine explosively for the first time together here on the soon-to-be- massive, double-header 'Heartbreak'/'Ananda'.

Stockholm's Beyer and Dahlback go back over 10 years when they met on a train in '93 going to the Berlin Love Parade and within a year had set up a studio together. Now a decade on Adam Beyer is one of the most respected techno DJs and producers on the planet and has released a ton of classic material on his Drumcode, Code Red and Truesoul imprints. Alongside Stockholm's Cari Lekebusch and Jesper Dahlback he has become synonymous with the techno sound of Sweden, which has quite literally shaken the world since the mid-nineties. Dahlback was actually involved in the now seminal Drumcode #1 and after various releases as DJ Lenk graduated through the classic deep house cuts he has since released on Sweden's Svek under his 'The Persuader' and various other guises. He has since gone on to release untold 12s such as the recently massive 'DK8', three albums, numerous mixes and productions for Turbo Recordings - run by Montreal's Tiga…

Ah yes. The trans-Atlantic superhighway joins these two new emerging electronic empires like the Detroit-Berlin axis. If you've been even only half awake in the last 5 years then Tiga should need little introduction. From running clubs and promotions in his native Montreal from the early 90s (establishing both Solstice - Montreal's first major dance music event and the Sona nightclub - where Adam Beyer first played with Tiga back in '97) it was the advent of his Turbo Recordings label in '98 alongside Matt Dillon that has catapulted him to DJ superstardom. Having topped the charts with Jori Hulkkonen as Tiga and Zyntherius with the classic 'Sunglasses At Night' (Gigolo/City Rockers) and the more recent club smash 'Pleasure From The Bass' (PIAS/Turbo), incidentally produced by one Jesper Dahlback, his vocal delivery has become as renowned as his electric techno/house/electro roof raising DJ sets. Little wonder DJ Hell has been hailing him as dance music's new wunderkind.

"I was in Stockholm working on my album with Jesper", recalls Tiga of the hook up. "We had all spent hours talking politics and alternative theories of developing civilization; that's when I got all romantic and bored and angry and decided to sing. It was like being at an industrial-campfire. Adam and Jesper spun their magick, pressed buttons, worked on computers and voila....probably the best record of the past 10 years!" Although Beyer had first recorded the 'Heartbreak' vocals with Henrik B it was whilst working with Jesper that they decided they fitted better here. Add Montreal's finest to the mixture and you have one of the best dance tracks of the year. Fast, frenetic, swirling and rolling this is one record sure to explode over clubland this summer. 'H.E.A.R.T.B.R...E.A.K.E.R.'

The vocals for 'Ananda' came up in a conversation between the trio and Chris Liebing (who was also in Stockholm at the time to see Kraftwerk). "We were talking about possible future technology and the development of the internet," says Beyer. "Tiga obviously thought that was really funny and was taking the piss on the mic between takes when recording the Heartbreak vocals. We pasted it on to the track and felt it gave it a bit more character."

Techno with character? Look no further.
